CBN (Cannabinol) - A "New Kid" on the Block

Cannabinol (CBN) is one of the most recent cannabinoids to gain popularity. And with good reason!

Although CBD (cannabidiol) and TCH (tetrahydrocannabinol) are the most well-known and researched cannabinoids, Bulk CBN Isolate was the first cannabinoid discovered by scientists in 1940 by British chemist Robert S. Cahn.

CBN is not generated from cannabigerolic acid CBGa, as are all other cannabinoids. CBN is produced naturally in the cannabis plant as it ages. This is because, when the hemp material matures, the THC molecules degrade and transform into CBN. THC molecules disintegrate into CBN molecules during decarboxylation, which involves exposing raw cannabis to heat and oxygen for extended periods of time. As a result, CBN levels in aged or oxidised cannabis flowers are high.

This is also why CBN is marginally psychoactive, but has just one-fourth the intoxication intensity of THC. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) discovered in 1999 that the cannabis they tested lost 50% of its THC level over four years, with the majority of the degradation occurring in the first two years. 1

What Exactly Is CBN?

Every mammal has an endocannabinoid system (ECS). However, just like a person's fingerprint, each person's ECS is unique to them alone. The ECS is a biological system that regulates and balances numerous functions in the body, including immune response, cell communication, hunger and metabolism, memory, and more, via the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.

THC is well known for its interactions with CB1 receptors in the central nervous system (spinal cord and brain). Their activity is directly related to memory and cognition, emotion, motor control, appetite stimulation, and pain perception. THC's psychoactive qualities are what cause you to feel "high." CBD, unlike THC, primarily interacts with CB2 receptors and some CB1 receptors. However, unlike THC, CBD has no psychoactive qualities; you do not experience a "high." CBD, in fact, has a relaxing effect.

CBN, on the other hand, can interact with both CB1 and CB2 receptors and has a different mode of action than THC. Although Bulk CBN Isolate is not as psychoactive as THC, it can enhance THC's pleasant effects. The human endocannabinoid system, or ECS, is depicted here.

How Does CBN Function?

CBN, like other cannabinoids, including CBD and THC, operates through several mechanisms. As a result, its functionality can generate a variety of biological responses via the endocannabinoid system (ECS).

CBN can bind to both CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors and has different modes of action than THC. Although CBN Isolate Wholesale is not as psychoactive as THC, it can enhance THC's pleasant effects. The entourage effect refers to the synergistic response of cannabinoids boosting other cannabinoids.

While the effects of Bulk CBN Isolate are less well understood than those of CBD and THC, it does have a few significant advantages.

What Are the Advantages of CBN?

CBN as a sedative - This figure is mind-boggling. Sleep deprivation has a wide-ranging impact on people's daily lives and health.

CBN is known as the "sleepy cannabinoid" because to its sedative qualities. CBN has been demonstrated in animal studies to increase sleep time. According to certain studies, the calming effects of CBN are enhanced when coupled with THC. In another study, 5mg of CBN was found to be as effective as a pharmaceutical-strength sedative. However, they discovered that pure Bulk CBN Isolate cannot affect sleep on its own, but only in combination with the other cannabinoids, allowing for the entourage effect, which is very effective as a sleep aid. 1 In addition, CBN appears to be a more potent sleep aid than CBD. When compared to CBN, the doses required for CBD to exert a sedative effect are very high.

CBN as a pain reliever - According to research, CBN Isolate Wholesale possesses analgesic (pain-relieving) properties in the body. However, it appears to do so outside of the endocannabinoid system (ECS - it does this without the CB1 or CB2 receptors). Instead, it operates by causing sensory nerves to release amino acids known as peptides. This procedure activates a different nerve function that has a comparable impact. 1 CBN appears to impact the activity of capsaicin-sensitive neurons. (As you may know, capsaicin is present in chilli peppers and is an ingredient in many topical pain medications.) These capsaicin-sensitive neurons play a vital role in pain signalling and perception in the body. 2. CBN as an anti-inflammatory agent - CBN, like CBD, appears to have anti-inflammatory properties. CBN Isolate Wholesale like CBD, acts on both the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The discovery of both receptors on immune cells shows that cannabis play a key role in immune system modulation. Cannabinoids have been proven in studies to "upregulate T-regulatory cells (Tregs) as a way to decrease inflammatory responses." They found that manipulating endocannabinoids and/or using exogenous cannabis can be an effective treatment for inflammatory diseases.

What Is the Difference Between CBN and CBD?

CBN as an appetite stimulant - CBN has many of the same medicinal benefits as CBD, including analgesia, anti-inflammatory properties, and anti-convulsant properties. Despite its similarities to CBD, CBN appears to have one distinct effect: it stimulates appetite. While CBD appears to decrease appetite, CBN appears to enhance hunger. This is not surprising given that CBN is produced from aged THC molecules. This could make CBN a therapeutic alternative for patients who are unable to maintain an appetite due to another illness, such as cancer or its treatment(4), yet are sensitive to THC's full effects.

Where can you purchase CBN?

Bona Voluntate currently offers a tincture that contains both CBN Isolate Wholesale and CBD. It comprises a full-spectrum hemp extract as well as pure hemp-derived CBN Isolate Wholesale. Because of its sedative effect, this tincture should only be used in the evening. You get the following with each bottle:
